DESCRIPTION

The Hysterical Womxn's Society is a collective of womxn and allies promoting equity through intentional and informed dialogue on human rights issues. The Society provides a platform for conversation and inspiration through content, events, and partnerships with the goal of inciting change and action.

The HWS Steering Committee is our all-volunteer leadership team responsible for setting long-term growth strategy, leading activation planning and execution, and serving as the key public spokespersons and advocates for the Hysterical Women's Society mission.

While we are a strengths-based organization and believe there is no one way to be a member of the HWS Steering Committee, a successful committee member will be engaged, solutions- and action-oriented, and most importantly, open-minded and willing to learn. We are are looking for committee members with a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and skillsets, who will bring those diverse perspectives build an environment of inclusion in which listening is more powerful than talking, learning more valuable than teaching, and respecting others the utmost priority.

We expect the following commitment from all Steering Committee members:

• Attendance at all full-committee monthly meetings.

• Joining at least one Team, including attendance at Team's meetings:

  • Events - Responsible for the planning and execution of workshops, panels, fireside chats, etc.

  • Outreach - Responsible for active and intentional relationship-building, community outreach and parternships.

  • Communications - Responsible for building and maintaining HWS online and offline brand presence including website, social media, newsletters, press kits, etc.

  • Finance & Operations - Responsible for managing organization budget, recruitment and personnel initiatives, grant applications, facilitation with legal counsel.

• Serving either as a project Lead for one activation per quarter or in a Support role for two activations per quarter.
